Wedding Congratulations

What happens when your best stamping partner comes over to stamp for the whole afternoon, you get some new stamping publications AND she brings all her goodies with her? A new card is created ! I used the new Tasteful Trim BigZ XL Die to create the wonderful large scalloped border and love it! Used the remainder to decorate the inside of the card. Love the color combination that the new Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper provides. Hope you enjoy today’s card.

Once in a Blue Moon - Owl Punch

This is the card a made for my husband for our 30^th wedding anniversary.  Once in a blue moon a marriage like ours comes along.  We have been thru many, many trials in our time together and we still feel very blessed to have each other. 

I used the Circle Scissor Plus to make a mask for the moon.  I sponged White Craft Ink onto the Night of Navy Card stock with daubers-I just kept “daubing” and smoothing until I got the finish I wanted.  The branch is from the Bird Punch.  I think Stampin’ Up has done a great job with these new punches!

PPA 25 With All My Heart

I had an unexpected day off and I spent the day trying to get my creative juices flowing again. It’s been a while since I have challenged myself to create something ‘original’ and it was tough! I turned to one of my favorite challenge groups – Pals Paper Arts for inspiration. Of course my absolute favorite food is chocolate so I could not resist! After at least an hour of some frustration and almost giving up, this is what I created!

I took the card layout inspiration from one of my favorite stampers, Mary Fish. Her card can be found here. Most items used for this card are from the new Occasions Mini. Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink are two of my favorite colors together!

In Color ‘Love’ Tiny Tags Valentine Swap Card

We’re in Phoenix, AZ at the Stampin’ Up Leadership Convention and oh what a trip it was! I am writing this on Tuesday night (posting on Wednesday morning), as we are flying into Phoenix after a day of cancelled flights, running like crazy through the terminals hoping to catch another flight and lots of airport time, just to get to Phoenix in time for the conference to start today.

You had to be there to experience it (or be thankful you were not!) but this isn’t the first time traveling with Julie has resulted in a simple, non-stop flight turning into an entire day ordeal! What should have been a 3 ½ hour direct flight turned into a 14 hour trip! NOT PRETTY and we do not have any luggage :( Our last trip to Salt Lake City (again for Stampin’ Up) ended the same way. I joked with Julie that it must be her and honestly after hearing her travel stories and problems with flights, I have decided it is definitely her fault! (Just kidding!)

We’ve got several new cards to show you throughout the week so stay tuned. I had fun creating this card after getting my inspiration from a card with butterflies in the new Occasions Mini on page 10 and CASE’ing the idea to create this card.

Stamping tips:

I used the new textured impressions folder – Perfect Polka Dots card front and the hearts on the front. The new small heart punch was used to quickly punch out a lot of hearts! It worked great!

Wishing You Happiness

A little diversion from the Holiday Seasonal Items ..... More to come this week but in the meantime, this card was one I did for swaps at SU! Convention this past summer. I really like the crisp, contrast of the black and white and the way it all came together. I used embossing (both with powder for the heart and the Big Shot for the background) to add some interest on the card.

This is a standard 5 ½” x 4 ¼” size card in Basic Black, with a front and inside whisper white panel measuring 5 ¼” x 4”. The other pieces measure 1 3/8” x 5 ¼” (black) with white at 1 ¼” by 5 ¼”; black 1 3/8” x 4” and white 1 ¼” x 4”.

Stamping tips:

• The heart is stamped in Versamark twice – once on a Whisper White piece of paper and embossed in black and another time on Basic Black paper and embossed in white. They are cut out with the white popped up on dimensional over the black.
• The background embossing was done with one of Stampin’ Up!’s Texture plates (Backgrounds #1) and is so quick and easy to do with your Big Shot Die Cut Machine and adds just that extra touch that makes people ask how you possibly could have done that! You’ll need the standard platform and cutting pads that come with the Big Shot Package available from Stampin’ Up!  along with the Standard Texturz Silicone Rubber and Standard Texturz Impressions Pad. Make sure you have all the necessary pads to complete the project!  I really do not know what I did without my Big Shot! I joke with Julie my blogging partner that it was THE BEST Christmas gift I have gotten … well almost other than those from my husband and son :)

Ever After Wedding Wishes – MOJO Monday 113

 
I got my MOJO going on Tuesday morning with this great sketch for this weeks’ MOJO Monday challenge.

I chose a “never” used stamp set in my collection (actually my sister Jane bought this set and left it at her stamping studio – my house!) and some black and white designer paper and went from there. I just love how crisp and clean black and white cards look. You could use this layout and card for an anniversary card also – just change up with saying on the inside.

Stamping tips:

• All of the stamped images and inside sentiment are stamped in Versamark and embossed in silver. I hope the picture is able to capture the elegance of the embossing – fitting for wedding or anniversary wishes! I loved how the inside of the card turned out being embossed also.

 

• I added some interest by embossing the white cardstock and the very thin piece of black cardstock with a swirl pattern from the SU Texturz Plates and the Big Shot. Remember, you can spritz the cardstock with water or rubbing alcohol before running through the Big Shot to create a deeper impression with the Texturz plates. I also embossed the flap of the envelope to accompany the card (a great suggestion from Mary Fish, a fellow SU Demonstrator). The beautiful Night and Day Designer Series Paper added the last (or first!) layer of pattern. I just love this paper.

Use this inspiration along with those stacks of stamps, inks and accessories in your craft room or creative corner to create your own masterpiece! I took another suggestion from Mary Fish (www.stampinpretty.com) and organized all of my stamp sets by creating a book with all of the images, organized by categories. When I sit down to create, I thumb through the book to find options and ideas. Having all of the images available also lets me quickly mix and match elements from different stamp sets to create the card (and to remember all that I have!).
